Greg wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese this year, and is into dinosaurs, so we went with the dinosaur cake. Haley and I changed to words to the Ramones song "I want to be sedated" to "I want to be a first grader" and had everyone sing it for Greg for his B-day. Haley learned how to play it on the piano.
Since it is summer and we have read a lot of books this year, I thought we might make a list of the book seires that we read and really loved, in case you guys are looking for some stuff to read.
1. SEPTIMUS HEAP-MAGYK (Haley is just finishing up this series and I just started it)
by Angie Sage. There are 5 books in this series, so far. This book is about wizards and magic, but takes place in medevil times.
2. The Fire Within (john is still on this series, but Haley has already read it all)
By Chris D' Lacey. I think there is four books in this series, and it is about dragons.
3. Leven Thumps and the gateway to foo
By Obert Skye. I believe there are 5 books in this one plus a funny guide. This one involves a magical tooth pic. Go, figure, huh? There is also another book by this author called pilage, that is about dragons.
4. Dairy of a Wimpy Kid
By Jeff Kinney. There are 4 books so far, in this one. Haley, John, and Ben all loved these ones. It is a funny journal written by a middle school boy. We also found a similar book called The strange case of origami yoda by Tom AngleBerger. Also kind of a journal, but this time it a told by a origami yoda.
5. Fablehaven
by Brandon Mull. There are 5 books in this series. This one is about a brother and sister that go off to a mythical land of fantasy called fablehaven.
6.Vladimir Tod-Eight grade Bites
by Heather Brewer. They start in 8th grade and go all the way to 12th, which well come out in the fall. This series is about a orphan boy that is half vampire, and how he deals with that, along with trying to be a normal teenage boy. They are pretty tame for vampire book and John, Haley, I really liked them.
7. Gregor the Overlander
by Suzanne Collins. Five books in this series. Haley and John read them, and we are all listening to the first audibook right now. It is about a boy named Gregor who follows his two year old sister Boots down a laundry shoot and ends up in the underlands, where there are huge talking crockroaches, bats, and rats.
8. Hunger games
by Suzanne Collins. There is 3 books in this series, that last one comes out in the fall. Haley and I really liked this one. It is about a young girl that is taking care of her mother and sister in a united states that has fallen due to war. Food and water is scarse, and all resources are to go the capital. There are 12 districts and each year all 12 districts have to give two tributes, to play in a televised fight to the death, war games.
